Consolidation Assessment of Marine Clay Using Electrokinetic Coupled with Constant Load

نویسندگان

چکیده

In Marine clays, the consolidation phenomenon is a significant issue of concern. For this, an innovative electrokinetic method was adopted by coupling conventional technique with constant voltage gradient. A series tests were performed on reconstituted marine clay samples for loading intensity 4kg/cm2 coupled DC 2, 4 and 6V. Various parameters such as deformation, void ratio, current, pH, moisture content continuously monitored to compare test results Incremental (IL) (CL) techniques. case (EK) loading, increase in gradient, values obtained current also increased maximum then decreased afterwards. Microfabric changes visible soils collected at anode cathode, which evidenced images scanning electron microscopy (SEM) data before after EK when compared original clay. The 4V electric gradient resulted higher compression better characteristics than other conditions.

Decontamination of Clay Using Electrokinetic Phenomena

The electrokinetic phenomena is also used for decontamination and enhancement of soil–chemical interaction, apart from electro-osmotic consolidation of dewatering. In this paper, an attempt is made to decontaminate the Na contaminated clay using electro-kinetic principle for varying voltage, spacing and number of electrodes. Box type electrokinetic cell was used for this purpose. Results indica...

assessment of the efficiency of s.p.g.c refineries using network dea

data envelopment analysis (dea) is a powerful tool for measuring relative efficiency of organizational units referred to as decision making units (dmus). in most cases dmus have network structures with internal linking activities. traditional dea models, however, consider dmus as black boxes with no regard to their linking activities and therefore do not provide decision makers with the reasons...

Chemical Improvement of Clay Soils in situ Using Electrokinetic Processes

been widely researched as surface and deep soil treatment techniques (Figure 1). For certain practical situations, such as house foundations on expansive soil, mixing is not possible. Current research has shown that chemical treatment using a potential difference to transport chemical ions between bespoke electrodes can overcome such problems, whilst achieving the desired results. However, a ma...

On the Thermal Consolidation of Boom Clay

When a mass of saturated clay is heated, as in the case of host soils surrounding nuclear waste disposals at great depth, the thermal expansion of the constituents generates excess pore pressures. The mass of clay is submitted to gradients of pore pressure and temperature, to hydraulic and thermal flows, and to changes in its mechanical properties. In this work, some of these aspects were exper...
